Applying for College
Don't get blindsided by the college application process.

September 22 - October 3, 2025
College Application Weeks provides high school seniors the opportunity to learn about
Montana colleges and universities and complete a college application during the school
day, thereby opening the door for many students who might not otherwise take this
important step toward college. Participating high school seniors not only have an
opportunity to apply to a college during College Application Weeks, but also have
the opportunity to utilize the central application to apply to any school in the Montana University System for FREE all year long. Montana’s tribal colleges and private universities also offer free applications
during College Application Weeks.

October 2025
Montana families leave millions of dollars in financial aid on the table by not completing
the FAFSA. This process provides families with a full snapshot of the financial assistance
opportunities that may be available to them. And the sooner this step is completed
the better! With this in mind, we strongly encourage events surrounding FAFSA completion
throughout the month of October.

November 8, 2025
November 8th is recognized as National First-Generation Celebration Day. This day
celebrates students who are, or will be, the first in their family to attend a college
or university after high school. The goal of this event is to create a culture of
support for first-generation students and share the stories of those who have taken
the journey before them.

May 2026
Montana’s Decision Days celebrates all graduates as they launch into their next step
in life. For some, this may be a two-year program, a four-year program, an apprenticeship,
military service, or entering into the workforce with the skills and preparation attained
in high school. This event provides an opportunity to support students in the transition
after high school, and fosters inclusiveness and community by recognizing each student’s
post-high school goals.
