Before You Begin

Applying to college might seem complicated at first, but with the right information and tools, the process can be smooth and exciting. Here’s what you need to know before you start your application:
Student studying
No matter what kind of student you are, there’s an MUS college for you. Admission requirements vary by campus, program and what type of applicant you are. First, you’ll want to decide if you are interested in a 4-year or 2-year program. Then, determine if you’ll be applying as a traditional, non-traditional, transfer, international, or non-degree student.
Get Organized
Whether you’re a high school student, adult learner, or parent supporting their child through the process, staying organized will make applying for college much easier. Learn what materials, test scores, and documents you will need to complete your application.
Big sky
There are so many benefits of attending an MUS college as a Montana resident, like waived application fees, qualifying for in-state tuition and being eligible for several resident-only scholarships and grants. Be sure to review the residency requirements before you apply to determine your status.

The Application Timeline: What To Expect

Your application’s due date will depend on which application cycle and particular program you’ll be applying for. Use the following guidelines to stay on track with your MUS application.

  1. Create your account: Make sure to get started about three months in advance so you understand all the requirements for your program and have plenty of time to get what you need.
  2. Complete and submit your application: You’ll want to submit your application one to two months before it’s due, just in case there are any missing items that come up.
  3. Monitor your application: Check in on the status of your application until it’s marked as complete.
  4. Download a copy: You’ll want a copy of your application for your records
